Texas DPS Appointments: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about finding an earlier DPS appointment in Texas — and how GotAppt helps you get one.

Getting an appointment

How do I get an earlier Texas DPS appointment?

+

Start by booking the furthest available date the DPS site offers you, even if it is months away. That guarantees you have something, and DPS lets you move an existing appointment earlier.

Then watch for cancellations across every office within driving distance — not just the closest one. Most earlier openings are slots other people dropped, and they usually disappear within minutes.

Never cancel your existing appointment until the new one is confirmed.

Why are Texas DPS appointments booked months in advance?

+

Demand at Texas driver license offices runs far ahead of the number of slots, particularly in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and Fort Worth. The DPS releases appointments on a rolling basis, so by the time most people look, the calendar is already full.

That is why cancellations matter so much: they are the realistic path to an earlier date, and they go to whoever spots them first.

How does GotAppt work?

+

You tell us your ZIP code and which DPS service you need — a road test, a renewal, a first-time license, a CDL, and so on.

We then check the official Texas DPS scheduling system continuously for every office near you. The moment a slot opens, you get an SMS or email with the office and the date. You book it yourself on the DPS website.

How fast will I get the alert?

+

Alerts go out within seconds of a slot being detected.

Because cancellations are often claimed within minutes, keep SMS alerts switched on and be ready to book the moment your phone buzzes. The people who get the good slots are the ones who act immediately.

Which DPS offices and services do you cover?

+

We monitor driver license offices across Texas, mega centers included. You can browse them on our directory of Texas DPS offices by city.

Supported service types include first-time driver licenses, renewals and replacements, road skill tests (regular, CDL, Class M, RV), Texas ID cards, learner permits, address changes and CDL upgrades.

Pricing and trial

Is there a free trial?

+

Yes — 3 days of full access, free, with no payment card required.

You receive real alerts during the trial, exactly as a paying member does. The point is simple: check that we actually find openings for your ZIP code before you spend anything.

How much does GotAppt cost after the trial?

+

Basic — $4.99 one time. 3 days of access plus 3 bonus days.

Pro — $9.99 one time. 10 days of access plus 10 bonus days.

Both are one-time charges. There is no recurring subscription and nothing renews automatically.

Can I get a refund?

+

Yes. If the service did not work for you, get in touch and we will review your request under our refund policy.

The free trial exists precisely so you can confirm the service works in your area before paying.

Trust and privacy

Is GotAppt affiliated with the Texas DPS?

+

No. GotAppt is an independent notification service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Texas Department of Public Safety or any government agency.

We tell you when an appointment is available. The booking itself always happens on the official DPS website.

Do you book or resell appointments?

+

Never. We do not book, hold, or resell DPS appointments.

Holding slots would take them away from other Texans who need them, which is exactly the practice we refuse to take part in. See our no-scalping commitment.

What personal information do you store?

+

Only what is needed to send your alerts: your email address, your phone number if you enable SMS, and the ZIP code and service type you are watching.

We do not sell your data. Full details are in our privacy policy.

How do I stop receiving alerts?

+

Turn notifications off in your dashboard, reply STOP to any SMS, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.

Access is one-time and never renews by itself, so there is no subscription to cancel and nothing will be charged again.

Still have a question?

We usually reply the same day — or just try it, the first 3 days are free.
